Founded in 1911 by a philanthropist and oilman, Charles Page, Sand Springs was originally intended as a haven for widows and orphans. The children’s home is still operating and Charles Page Family Village (formerly known as the Widow’s Colony) helps single moms attend school or work to better their lives. Sand Springs was developed as a model city, and the interurban Sand Springs Railway connected its residents to Tulsa. Early manufacturing industries included the Kerr Glass Plant, which remained in business for decades.
Students are challenged, inspired, and empowered to be all they can be at Charles Page High School. CPHS seniors have been named National Merit Finalists and candidates for National Merit Scholarships. CPHS partners with Junior Achievement to provide work readiness and career planning program for students. In 2018-2019, both girls’ and boys’ CPHS basketball teams captured regional championships. The wrestling team sent six members to the State Tournament.
Chandler Park - This nearby park is a local favorite that boasts 192 acres. It's a great spot for rock climbing, trails, baseball, and is home to Oklahoma's largest splash park (no admission fee).
Keystone Ancient Forest - A 1,360 Acre Nature Preserve. Its 500-year-old cedars and 300-year-old oak trees provide the backdrop for refreshing hikes where you may see deer, eagles, and multiple species of butterflies.
Case Community Center - This 26,000 square-foot, attractive, state-of-the-art facility hosts business gatherings, sporting events, and banquets. Case Community Park is part of the facility and boasts soccer fields, multiple playgrounds, a splash pad, and the city's annual fourth of July fireworks display. It is also connected to the rest of the Tulsa County River Parks trail system and serves as the Western end of the trails.
